Community members encouraged to nominate outstanding teachers for surprise support
As the school year approaches, the Walker County Referral Cooperative (WCRC) is rallying the community with a heartfelt initiative to recognize and support local educators. The “Adopt a Teacher” campaign invites residents to nominate outstanding teachers who go above and beyond for their students.
The campaign is more than just recognition; it's a chance for one nominated teacher to receive thoughtful sponsorships from small businesses across the area. The support could come in the form of classroom supplies, treats, or surprise gifts designed to uplift and encourage teachers as they return to their classrooms.
The community is encouraged to participate by submitting nominations through a short online form. Individuals are asked to share a few words about what makes their favorite teacher exceptional. Select nominations may even be featured publicly, with permission, as part of WCRC’s effort to celebrate educators’ impact.
All nominations must be submitted by Sunday, July 21. The winning teacher will be announced on Monday, July 22, just in time to kick off the school year with a little extra love.

This community-driven initiative reflects WCRC’s ongoing mission to meet the needs of vulnerable populations in Walker County, including those who educate and shape future generations.
