Texas Outdoor Family Weekend

Families will have the opportunity to learn camping skills and explore the outdoors during Texas Outdoor Family Weekend, hosted by Texas Parks and Wildlife at Huntsville State Park from October 30 through November 1.

The two-night family camping workshop is designed to make camping accessible for beginners, with equipment provided, including a six-person tent, camp stove, fuel and cooking pots.

Throughout the weekend, families will participate in hands-on outdoor activities, including tent setup demonstrations, fire building, fishing, night hikes, Leave No Trace lessons and Junior Ranger journal programs.

Check-in begins Friday, October 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the workshop concludes Sunday, November 1, at 11 a.m.

Registration is required through Texas State Parks and costs $95 per family of up to six people. Participants should bring their own food, sheets and blankets.
