Day camp will pair local athletes with collegiate-level coaches across seven sports
Camp overview
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is bringing a new summer camp experience to Huntsville with a two-day, non-overnight program set for Thursday, June 26, and Friday, June 27. The event is designed for students entering grades 7–12 in fall 2025 and will combine athletic instruction, faith-based mentorship and fellowship in a structured day-camp format.
Sports lineup
Participants may choose from soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, track and cross-country, or golf. Each sport will feature skill sessions, drills and scrimmage play tailored to different ability levels. Camp organizers expect the varied slate to draw athletes from multiple school districts across the Piney Woods region.
Coaching experience
Every session will be led by an FCA coach or a collegiate coach or athlete with ties to Sam Houston, Howard Payne and New Mexico State universities. The camp’s leadership team says the format offers local players access to high-level instruction without leaving Walker County.
Camp venues
Most activities will take place on the Sam Houston State University campus—specifically the Bearkat Golf Course and Bearkat Softball Complex—while additional practices and games will be held at Alpha Omega Academy’s fields and gymnasiums in Huntsville. The dual-site layout allows each sport access to regulation facilities and specialized equipment.
Daily schedule and amenities
Check-in opens both mornings at 8 a.m. The first day concludes with pick-up at 5:30 p.m.; the second day ends with a 5–6 p.m. closing ceremony for campers and family members. Snacks and lunch will be provided on both days.
Registration and cost
The camp fee is $250 per athlete, which covers coaching, facility use, meals and an event T-shirt. Families can register online at www.fcapww.org/camp. Space is limited, and organizers encourage early sign-ups to secure preferred sport selections.
Volunteer opportunities
FCA Piney Woods West is seeking volunteers to assist with check-in, hydration stations, hospitality and logistics. Prospective volunteers must complete both the Volunteer and Leader applications available on the camp website.
Community outreach
Local churches, schools and youth organizations are invited to share the camp flyer to help connect more student-athletes with the opportunity. Printed flyers can be requested by contacting the camp office at avalis@fca.org.
