The Sam Houston bowling team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 12th year in a row, earning an at-large bid to this season’s championship.
The Bearkats were selected to the Arlington Regional and will begin play on April 4 at the International Training and Research Center when they face Stephen F. Austin at 9 a.m..
This is the 13th time in 15 years Sam Houston has qualified for the NCAA Championships. The Kats won the 2014 NCAA Championship, knocking off Nebraska in the finals.
The Bearkats have only missed the NCAA postseason once, in 2012, the second year of the program. The 2020 Championship was canceled due to the pandemic.
This will mark the fifth year the NCAA will use the expanded regional format going from eight teams at one location to 18 spread over four different regional sites. It’s the fourth straight season the Bearkats have been sent to the Arlington Regional.
The Kats will be joined in Arlington by overall No. 1 seed Jax State, Belmont Abbey and Prairie View.
