Cynthia (Cindy) Blaylock, 76, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Houston, Texas after a short illness. Cindy was born on January 7, 1950, in Port Authur, Texas to Curtis Cecil Bourn and Ruth Ellen Aldredge. In March of 1993, Cindy married David Blaylock. Cindy began work in the 80’s at the City of Huntsville in the inspection division as a building official, one of only a few women in the State of Texas with that designation at the time. Later Cindy became the superintendent of Solid Waste Division overseeing the closeout of the city’s landfill and the development of the Transfer Station, TIPS warehouse and recycling program. She introduced the Keep Huntsville Beautiful program and a Nike shoe recycling program. She served on the Houston Galveston Area Council Grant Committee. Upon her retirement she became involved in several organizations. She was the Walker County Chair for the Democrat Party and was responsible in part for the headquarters. She held the title of Master Gardener and enjoyed working in her yard. Cindy also served years as a judge and clerk in the Walker County elections. She participated in the Meals on Wheels Program.
She is survived by husband, David Blaylock; brother, Curtis Wayne Bourn, niece, Allison Marie Bourn, great niece, Eyllin Marie Bourn, uncle, Bob Aldridge; cousin, Allen Aldridge. Stepdaughters, Kristal and Kandice Blaylock; brother-in-law, Forrest Blaylock and wife Cynthia; sisters in law, Helen Belcher and Zula Hopper and husband, Lance. As well as other grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many special friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Bourn; her mother and stepfather, Ruth and AJ Kohm; grandparents, John Fred and Trixie Aldridge; stepdaughter, Kelsi Blaylock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church, 1800 Avenue R, Huntsville, Tx 77340.
