Della Rose Tallent

Della Rose Tallent April 8, 1953 – September 1, 2025 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Della Rose (Garcia) Tallent, aged 72. She passed peacefully on September 1, 2025, at her home in Huntsville, TX. Della was the first child of nine of Maria Jesus “Chuy” (Barbosa) Garcia and John J. Garcia. She was born April 8, 1953, in Port Arthur, TX. Della graduated from Nederland High School. She had various jobs throughout her life and was always a dedicated employee. She became a purchasing agent for the Texas Prison System in Huntsville, TX, from which she retired. She enjoyed music, hiking, traveling, and camping at all Texas state parks with her beloved husband John. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Della was free-spirited, generous, loving, caring, hard-working, funny, and very witty. Della is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Luz and Pola (De la Rosa) Garcia and Jesse and Virginia (Flores) Barbosa, all of Port Arthur, TX; father John J. Garcia, brother Charles Henry “Hank” Garcia, sister Carol Anne Foret, and the love of her life, her husband, John Tallent. She is survived by her mother, Jessica “Chuy” Garcia, her sisters Kathy Luke, Jessica (Kenneth) Williamson, Angel (Shelby) Garcia, brothers John Larry, Joseph “Mickey” and James Andrew “Drew” Garcia, son Michael Shawn Garcia, grandsons, Michael Jr. and Julian Garcia, granddaughter Angel Garcia, one great-grandson, brothers-in-law Joe Luke and Bill Foret, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members, and dear friend Bobby Simpson. Della will be missed dearly by all that knew her. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Christian service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Brooke Cemetery.
