Gary Parker

Obituary

In Loving Memory of Gary Parker It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gary Parker, who peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 9, 2026. Gary is now at perfect rest in the presence of his Savior. Gary was born and raised in Houston, Texas, on November 22, 1953, to Jack and Margaret Parker. On October 29, 1994, Gary married the love of his life, Lorrie Rowe in Flagstaff, Arizona.

In January 1995, they moved from Houston to the Lake Conroe area, where they built their life together and made many wonderful memories raising a family. Gary enjoyed an extraordinary career in film and video production spanning more than 50 years. His work took him through nearly every aspect of the industry—from serving as Video Producer and Chief Editor at Channel 13 and appearing as an extra in films, to producing and directing numerous projects.

For a time, he also managed the Houston-based band Tokyo. Gary was proud of many of his accomplishments throughout his career. He worked as a camera operator on the films The Chase and Sidekicks, produced his own movie, Dead End Diner, and co-produced the documentary The Only Guarantee. One project especially close to his heart was the well-known series Shattered Lives, a body of work he was deeply passionate about.

Throughout his career, Gary’s work received recognition from the Telly Awards, WorldFest, Vision Awards, Communicator Awards, and Videographer Awards. While he was certainly proud of his professional accomplishments, the relationships he built along the way and the lives he touched meant even more to him. Gary was a long-time Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe, VP of Greater Conroe Arts Alliance, Co- Director of Greater Conroe Film Festival and was very active in his community.

Gary’s memberships included American Film Institute, American Society of Cinematographers, and Independent Film & Television Alliance. He believed strongly in serving others and making a positive difference wherever he could. Most importantly, Gary was a man of deep and unwavering faith. He wanted everyone to know that the most important decision in life is to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Gary often spoke about being behind the camera on Sunday mornings at Fellowship of Montgomery and witnessing the moment someone accepted Christ.

From his unique perspective, he could see the light in their eyes change and grow brighter almost immediately. Gary and his family were among the founding families of Fellowship of Montgomery. He played an important role in helping bring the church’s message to the airwaves, allowing it to reach people around the world for Christ. Gary leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves a lasting legacy of faith, friendship, integrity, laughter, generosity, and unconditional love for his family and friends.

Every life he touched is better because he was part of it, and his memory will continue to shine through all who knew and loved him. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Lorrie; his children, Cheyenne and Lakota; his brother, Jeffrey Parker; sisters-in-law Leslye Barringer and her husband, Brent; Linda Kunz and her husband, Bill; and Lisa Brooks and her husband, Jerry; nieces and nephews Margaret Parker, Jason Chiles, Lucy Reck, and Travis Welbaum and their families; along with numerous cousins, extended family members, and wonderful friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Pamela Kinsey; and his infant daughter, Catherine Parker. Gary’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to AccentCare Hospice, his hospice nurse, Trae Barker, and At Your Side Home Care, owner Tammie Smith, for being such compassionate and dedicated caregivers. Your kindness, care, and support during these final months brought comfort and peace to our family.

We will be forever grateful.
