Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Young, born on September 22, 1947, in Kilgore, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2026, in The Woodlands, Texas. Kenneth was a devoted man of faith whose life was guided by his love for God and his trust in the Lord’s plan. There was no stranger that Ken ever met. Whether at church or in the parking lot of HEB, he was always ready with a smile, a kind word, and a helping hand. He was a true friend to those who needed one, and his warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Kenneth lived his life with humility, perseverance, and compassion. He earned his master’s degree from Southern Methodist University and built a respected career as a financier. Above all, he was a devoted husband and shared 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra, a union grounded in faith, love, and commitment. He was also a wonderful father to his son and took great pride in the family he built. Above all, Kenneth cherished time with his family. Whether he was teaching his grandson how to drive or attending a good old-fashioned Young family reunion, he treasured every moment spent together. Those simple, meaningful moments are the memories his family will carry with them forever. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Effie Emily Young and John Burr Young; his two older sisters, Rose Mary Young and Neva Thigpen; and his brother, Joe Young.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Young; his son and daughter-in-law, JJ Young and Sadie Young; his grandson and his wife, Kobe and Lauren Young; his granddaughter, Mia Young; his great- grandson, Quinn Gittings; his older brother, Buddie Young; and his older sisters, Johnnie Hausmann and Martha Stracener. While he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, we take comfort in the promise of Scripture and in knowing that he has been welcomed home and now rests in the presence of his Savior.
