Richard Charles Shirley, age 72, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Ava Marie Shirley; his stepson, Brandon Rawls Trube, and Brandon’s wife, Erica; his older brother, Jimmy Shirley; his sisters, Judy Herbert, Sandra Dies, and Donna Gillory; along with his many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who loved him dearly. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Shirley and Lucille Lee, and his brother, Marvin Shirley.

At Richard’s request, there will not be a traditional visitation. His immediate and extended family are invited to attend a small graveside service in remembrance of his life. The Graveside service will be held: Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. Earthman Memory Gardens Section C, Lot 37 A Celebration of Life will follow the Graveside service, family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard’s life together at: Luna’s Mexican Restaurant 730 W.

Cedar Bayou Lynchburg Road Baytown, Texas 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm Luna’s held a special place in Richard and Ava’s hearts. It was where they met, and the Baytown location became their Friday date-night tradition for many years. It felt only fitting that they would celebrate Richard’s life there with family and friends—and raise one last margarita in his honor. Please join us in celebrating Richard’s life, sharing memories, and raising a toast to a man who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
