Obituary
Wanda Lee Wright Owens August 26, 1937 – September 14, 2026 Wanda Lee Wright Owens, a beloved resident of the Houston area, passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 26, 1937, in Galveston, Texas, she grew up in the close-knit community of Diboll before making her home in and around Houston, where she spent the remainder of her life. Wanda was a remarkably gifted artist whose vision and creativity touched many hearts.
Throughout her life, she captured her love for nature and the beauty she saw in the things around her through her artwork, leaving behind a colorful legacy that will be cherished by her loved ones forever. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rayford Franklin Wright and Ruby Ann Sisk Wright; her beloved husband, Richard E. (Pete) Owens; and her son, Curtis Eric Owens. Her legacy lives on through her surviving children and their spouses, Debra and David Hensarling, Kathy and Mike Boudreaux, Ricky and Theresa Owens, and Ronnie and Lori Owens. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Rob and Amanda Hensarling, Cory and Lindsey Boudreaux, Mikal and Shera Hensarling, Courtney and Niles Abbott, Morgan and Blaine Hashagen, and Seth and Myklen Owens; and her great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Caleb, Tyson, Reagan, Landry, Carson, Harper, Madison, Hudson, Hayes, Henry, and Frankie. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville and services will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at East Sandy Cemetery.
