Bearkats unveil 56-game schedule, including marquee matchups in Conference USA and non-conference tournaments.

Press Release from GoBearkats.com

The Sam Houston baseball team and head coach Jay Sirianni unveiled the 2025 schedule on Thursday, a challenging slate as the program enters its second season in Conference USA.

“We have a lot of new faces on this year’s team, but the expectations remain the same,” Sam Houston head coach Jay Sirianni said. “This schedule reflects that. We pride ourselves on challenging ourselves against tough competition, which is something we are fortunate to be able to do week in and week out thanks to the number of quality teams located regionally and within Conference USA.”

Season-ticket renewals are scheduled to become available for the 2025 season on November 29 and can be purchased by visiting GoBearkats.com/tickets or by calling the Bearkat Ticket Office at 936-294-1729.

The 56-game schedule includes 31 games at Don Sanders Stadium, including SHSU hosting future CUSA rival Missouri State for a three-game set to open the year, February 14-16.

Sam Houston will also host NJIT for four games (Feb 21-23) and former WAC and Southland rival Abilene Christian for three games (March 14-16) in weekend series leading into the start of Conference USA play against defending league champion Louisiana Tech (March 21-23).

The Kats will have a tough pair of weekends to open the month of March when they head to Frisco to take part in the Frisco Classic at Riders Field for the second time in program history, followed by a trip to Oklahoma for a three-game set at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

In Frisco Sam Houston will face off against three teams who made postseason appearances in 2024, starting with Nebraska who won the Big 10 and advanced to the NCAA Stillwater Regional. The Kats will then square off against Kansas State and perennial national power LSU, both of whom made Super Regional appearances a year ago.

“We have had great experiences and shown well in showcases such as the Frisco Classic, Karbach Classic and Minute Maid Classic over the years,” Sirianni said. “This is just another opportunity for us to showcase our program on one of the biggest early-season stages in college baseball and to see where we stack up against some of the nation’s best.”

Other home weekend series include welcoming NM State (April 4-6), Kennesaw State (April 11-13), Liberty (May 2-4) and FIU (May 15-17) in the regular-season finale.

The Kats will also have a slew of road series within the league with trips to WKU (March 28-30), Dallas Baptist (April 17-19), Jax State (April 25-27) and Middle Tennessee (May 9-11).

Midweek games include annual home-and-homes with Rice and Baylor which has the Kats going to Reckling Park on February 18 and Baylor Ballpark on March 11. The Owls and Bears return the favors on April 1 and April 29 with treks to Don Sanders Stadium.

Sam Houston will also play a pair of midweeks with Texas A&M, who advanced to the finals of the 2024 College World Series. The Kats will first host the Aggies on April 8 before traveling to Blue Bell Park on April 22.

Other single midweeks include a trip to Texas on March 25 and hosting HCU on May 13. The Kats will also continue its annual playing of the Don Sanders Cup Series vs Houston with the Cougars coming to Huntsville on March 12 and the Kats going to the Bayou City a week later on March 18. The teams will conclude the midweek series on March 18 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.

The Conference USA Tournament is scheduled for May 21-25 at Worthington Field in Lynchburg, Va.
