Sam Houston Baseball Dominates Iowa with a 6-0 Victory at the Karbach Classic

From the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas at the Karbach Classic on Friday evening, Sam Houston responded with an impressive offensive display, defeating Iowa 6-0. The Bearkats, who now have a record of 4-2, produced a total of 15 hits, resulting in six runs. Joe Redfield and Myles Jefferson were the standout performers, both contributing three hits each. On the pitching side, Coltin Atkinson delivered an exceptional performance, allowing only two hits in seven innings and striking out seven, resulting in him being credited with his second win of the season.

Sam Houston began their scoring in the second inning when Clayton Chadwich hit a double down the right field line and was brought home by Redfield’s infield single. Chadwich scored another run in the fourth inning, driving in Walker Janek with a single to center field.

Jefferson then got in on the action in the fifth inning, hitting a double down the left field line, advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt by Lane Brewster, and scoring on a single by Justin Wishkoski through the left side. In the sixth inning, Redfield and Jefferson combined again, extending the lead to 4-0. Redfield hit a single through the right side, and Jefferson followed it up with his second double of the game, scoring Redfield.

Sam Houston added two more runs in the ninth inning, with Jefferson getting his third hit of the game, Brewster drawing a walk, and Wishkoski slipping a hit through the left side to load the bases. Janek was then hit by a pitch, resulting in a run, and Chadwick drew a walk, bringing the score to 6-0.

Sam Houston will face off against Kansas State in their next game at the Karbach Classic on Saturday at 4 p.m.
