Bearkats Men and Women’s Teams Compete Against Top Runners in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sam Houston completed its cross country season at the NCAA South Central Regional in Agis Park on Friday.
The men finished comfortably in eighth place overall as a team against a 25-team field, sitting in front of former WAC opponent UT Arlington. The women finished in 23rd against the 24-team field.
It was the all-conference selections for the Bearkats who highlighted the regional. Christian Rivera completed the 10k course with a time of 30:18, good enough for 19th overall. Gudisa Adnow was not far behind, who finished the course with a 30:25 time, placing 23rd overall.
Mario Ruiz, Wyatt Lehman and Kyan Wallace also finished within the top 100 runners, with placements of 70th (31:45), 85th (32:07) and 93rd (32:20) respectively. Edwin Rivera (33:35) and Yovany Portillo (34:53) were also finishers for the Bearkats.
On the other side, the women were led by Elli Galand, who finished 98th overall with a time of 22:51 on the 6k course. Other finishers for the Bearkats included Kristen Wilson (24:19), Zerah Martinez (24:43), Kydall Scogin (25:16) and Lauren Johansson (25:24).
