HUNTSVILLE — Football fans will be treated to an evening full of entertainment when Sam Houston hosts Hawaii on Saturday in the home opener.

Those in attendance can enjoy the first-ever drone show at Bowers Stadium presented by Flylight following the game which is set to kick at 6 p.m. More than 250 drones will use the night sky over the home of the Bearkats as a canvass to paint electrifying visual images for the Family Weekend crowd on hand.

“Bearkats Athletics is on the rise, and our partnership with Flylight to bring a drone show to Huntsville showcases that for the whole community to see,” said Adam Bright, Director of Fan Engagement. “I am excited to add this amazing drone show to our newly enhanced game day experience. Bowers Stadium is the place to be in the fall, and this show is one small part of the enhanced game day experience we are focused on bringing to our Bearkat fans.”

Flylight, a Texas-based company, produces shows across the country using new, advanced technology. They describe the computer-controlled “ballet” as a “symphony of drones” which syncs LED lights and music to tell stories and inspire the imagination for an “unforgettable” experience for the whole family.

The show will begin in the north end zone by the video board as the team celebrates the fight song with the Bearkat Marching Band immediately after the game.

“We are excited to work with Sam Houston to bring this show to Bearkat fans,” said Steph Allison with Flylight Drones. “The University is steep in the rich Texas history, as the namesake of the University implies.”

Tickets for Saturday’s game against Hawaii are available for purchase online or by calling the Bearkat Ticket Office at (936) 294-1729.
