On February 8th, the Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce spearheaded a delegation of business and community stakeholders to visit our esteemed State Capitol in Austin. The group was led by State Rep. Kyle Kacal, who escorted the attendees to the Texas House of Representatives Gallery. From this vantage point, the delegation had the honor of hearing the Speaker of the House, the Honorable Representative Dade Phelan, on the House floor, where they were recognized for Walker County Day.
After this inspiring experience, the group was treated to a luncheon hosted by Entergy Texas. During this time, representatives from the Texas Workforce Commission, The State Comptroller’s Office, Texas Association of Business, Rep. Kyle Kacal, and Rep. Ernest Bailes shared their insights and knowledge on the current business and economic climate in Texas. The delegation had the opportunity to engage with the experts, ask questions and gain valuable insights to help their businesses and communities thrive.
Before returning to Huntsville, the group enjoyed a Capitol tour, which was provided by a Capital Docent. This gave them a chance to learn more about the rich history and intricate workings of the Texas State Capitol, providing a memorable experience for all attendees.
The Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Entergy Texas for sponsoring the lunch, Advantage Specialties for producing beautiful embroidered scarfs for all participants, and Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home for providing parking for all attendees. This visit was an exceptional opportunity for the delegation to deepen their understanding of the legislative process, network with key decision-makers, and share their perspectives on important issues that affect their communities.
