Volunteers Needed to Aid Flood Recovery in San Angelo

First Baptist Church Huntsville organizing men’s cleanup trip August 1–2; six spots remain

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — First Baptist Church Huntsville is calling on male volunteers to join a return trip to San Angelo, Texas, on Friday, August 1, to assist families affected by recent devastating floods.

The cleanup mission will involve physical labor such as clearing debris, painting, and helping clean out damaged homes. The group will depart early Friday, stay overnight, and return late Saturday. Overnight housing and meals will be provided.

The team is limited to eight men, with two spots already filled.

“We’ve been asked to return and help however we can,” said Rob Hipp, community outreach minister at First Baptist Church. “We’re going in with open hands and hearts, ready to clean, paint, haul debris — whatever needs to be done.”

Maria Mejia, director of Concho Valley Turning Point, and Ernesto Corpus have been the church’s main points of contact in San Angelo. Mejia said there will be numerous needs when the group arrives.

First Baptist Church previously delivered donations to Georgetown, San Saba, and San Angelo. That trip allowed volunteers to identify specific needs and build relationships with families now being adopted by the church for continued support.

“These are real people facing real loss,” Hipp said. “The community here in Huntsville showed up in a big way during the donation drive. Now, we have a chance to keep showing up — with work gloves and willing hearts.”

Men interested in joining the team should contact Rob Hipp at rob.hipp@fbchuntsville.org.

“Whether you’ve done this kind of work before or not, if you're ready to serve, there’s a spot for you,” Hipp said.
