AgriLife’s September resources outline registration, volunteer needs and an approaching broiler-order deadline.
Walker County 4-H has opened registration for the 2026-27 year, with club meetings beginning in September and a Sept. 11 deadline for major-show broiler orders. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension's county resources give families a place to check enrollment requirements and upcoming project deadlines.
The county's September newsletter notes adult leaders are needed and asks interested volunteers to contact Kristy Titzman at 936-435-2426 or kristy.titzman@ag.tamu.edu. The office can provide resources for club meetings.
Registering for the New 4-H Year
The 2026-27 Walker County 4-H handbook directs families to the new enrollment platform at tx4h.tamu.edu. Families create an account and family profile, select Walker County, and add youth members or adult volunteers along with clubs and projects.
The handbook lists a $40 participation fee for enrollment from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31. That amount includes a $25 state fee and $15 county fee. Beginning Nov. 1, the listed total rises to $45. Membership becomes active after county approval and payment of the required dues.
The handbook identifies Clover Kids for kindergarten through second grade, juniors for third through fifth grade, intermediates for sixth through eighth grade and seniors for ninth through 12th grade. Families can ask the Extension office about the appropriate enrollment category and available activities.
Broiler Orders and Safety Meetings
The September newsletter sets Sept. 11 as the deadline to order birds for exhibitors planning to show broilers at the San Antonio Livestock Show, Houston Livestock Show or Rodeo Austin in spring 2027. It lists birds at $1.50 each, ordered in groups of 25, 50 or 75, and directs families to Kristy for details.
For children interested in shotgun, rifle or archery clubs, the newsletter says a safety meeting is required before the first club meeting. Parents can contact the office about the relevant meeting and enrollment steps.
