Huntsville’s Tyler Fordyce set to call every home and away game for Alpha Omega Academy

HUNTSVILLE, TX – Alpha Omega Academy (AOA) Lions football fans will have the chance to follow every snap of the 2025–26 season live, thanks to a new broadcast partnership with SHN Sports (Schoening-Hipp Network). The entire home and away schedule will be covered with play-by-play provided by Huntsville’s own Tyler Fordyce.

Fordyce, local "Pack and Ship" business owner and active community member, brings a deep personal connection to the school and its mission. “Oh man, yeah I’m excited,” he said. “These kids—many of them used to be in my youth group at Fellowship of Huntsville Church. I’m just excited to give back.”

Calling games is not new to Fordyce, who formerly provided PA commentary for Alpha Omega. But this year’s coverage marks a significant upgrade, offering professional livestream broadcasts through SHN Sports’ platform.

“I used to call the games from the pressbox, you know, just as an announcer,” Fordyce said. “But now to do this with broadcasting—it’s amazing.”

All games—home and away—will be streamed live with video on the SHN Sports YouTube channel, giving fans, families, and alumni an easy and free way to follow the Lions all season long.

Hipp: SHN Return to Huntsville 'Something Special'

SHN Sports Co-Founder and Director of Operations Rob Hipp is also excited about the return of the platform to Huntsville and the new partnership with AOA.

“When I first came to Huntsville, it was always on my radar to find coverage for AOA,” Hipp said. “Now, that opportunity has presented itself through Tyler and others, and we are happy that our platform is making a return to Huntsville.”

Hipp brought SHN from Austin to Huntsville several years ago, establishing a foundation that helped launch wide-reaching coverage of Huntsville Hornets athletics—coverage that has since been continued by another organization that chose to branch out on its own.

“We built something great from the ground up,” Hipp said. “And now we get a chance to do the same for AOA.”

In addition to the AOA broadcasts, Hipp continues to serve the surrounding area through SHN’s ongoing coverage of New Waverly Athletics. “We brought the platform over to New Waverly, too,” he said. “I’ll continue covering Bulldog football this fall, along with basketball and baseball.”

Hipp emphasized that the broadcasts are more than just entertainment. “It’s important for me that the schools and student athletes benefit from these broadcasts. They are the reason we do what we do. That has always been a focus since day one of SHN, when Karl Schoening and I founded the company over a decade ago.”

Sponsorship opportunities will be available soon for local businesses and individuals to support the broadcasts and student-athletes. Additionally, there are plans for AOA football to air on Spirit 94.3 FM, The Spirit of Huntsville—a truly local, 501(c)(3) nonprofit LPFM station focused on contemporary Christian music and community programming. Efforts are underway to raise the funds needed to bring the station on air and expand the reach of AOA athletics even further across the region.

Balancing Broadcast and Fatherhood

Fordyce, who recently became a father, says he’s able to take on the full broadcast schedule thanks to a strong support system at home.

“My wife Bella has been amazing,” he said. “She’s supported me and this dream of mine. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”

The exposure SHN Sports will bring to the program is especially important to Fordyce. “This is a ministry first and foremost,” he said of AOA. “The school gave me my foundation, and now I get to give back in a way that helps share their story.”

AOA’s Recent Football Success

Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator Allen Barnes echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the value of visibility for the Lions.

“I think it lets people know what we’re doing,” Barnes said. “AOA is really family-oriented, but now all of Huntsville—and even beyond—will be able to see the success stories.”

Alpha Omega’s football program has seen steady growth in recent years, making it to the state championship game this past season as TAPPS 6-Man Division I runner-up. The team battled through adversity, including injuries to key players, yet still rallied to the title game with heart and grit.

“Our leading rusher partially tore his MCL, missed a playoff game, and still came back for the championship to rack up over 150 total yards,” Barnes said. “That’s the kind of heart this team has.”

Athletic Culture on the Rise

Barnes credits a cultural shift—fueled by student buy-in, upgraded facilities, and an expanded strength program—for recent success across multiple sports.

“Football laid the groundwork, and now basketball, baseball, and softball are all making deep playoff runs,” he said. “It’s not just high school—junior high is growing too. That’s the momentum we’ve built.”

He added that the new exposure will only increase opportunities for student-athletes. “It’s just a huge deal. We finished fifth in the Henderson Cup standings for TAPPS, and raised over a million dollars in scholarships this year. This broadcast helps tell that story.”
