Inspiring film highlights a community’s transformative impact on children in the foster care system.

CASA of Walker, San Jacinto, & Trinity Counties will host a screening of the new film Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot November 7th to raise awareness about the needs of children in the foster care system.

Inspired by the powerful true story, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace children in the foster care system who needed adoptive families, proving that steady, determined love can transform the lives of vulnerable children.

“This film sends a powerful message about the impact one community can make in the lives of vulnerable children,” said CASA Executive Director, Kimberly Weiser. “We’re excited to share this moving story with our community and looking forward to gathering together to watch it.”

At the screening, CASA leaders will distribute information with specific opportunities to get involved in caring for kids and families impacted by foster care. In Walker, San Jacinto, and Trinity Counties combined, there are currently 60 children in foster care, who each need a safe and loving home, with a supportive community who is ensuring their needs are met.

“While the total number of children impacted by foster care in our country is staggering, understanding the local numbers helps our community rally around the kids living right here,” said Program Director Rachel Drake. “Each and every one of us can do something to help them thrive.”

The screening will take place at 6:15pm on November 7 at Old Town Theatre. Tickets are $11 for Adults and $9 for children and are available to purchase online at https://brushfire.com/faithcontentnetwork/SoundofHope/587578/tickets.
