Sweetheart Showdown fundraiser combines Valentine’s Day celebration with support for Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Providing free books to children is the ultimate goal for Kaye Boehning, founder and director of Tomorrow's Promise Montessori School who has made it her mission to do just that through participation in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Her latest fundraising event to promote local literacy is the Sweetheart Showdown, happening Friday, Feb. 6.

The Sweetheart Showdown is a newlywed-style game where couples test how well they really know each other.

“We’ll randomly select couples from three mini-rounds to compete for a $500 grand prize,” Boehning said. “Winners from each round will advance to the Sweetheart Showdown Final, where they’ll compete on stage for cash and bragging rights as our 2026 Sweetheart Champions.”

The Valentine’s Day-themed event will include a Texas Roadhouse ribeye steak dinner with mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and sweet and unsweet tea. Beer has been donated by Faust Distributing. Wine has been donated by Sam’s Table.

Dinner can be followed by enjoying a dessert won in the dessert auction. There will also be a silent and live auction.

“Bring your sweetheart. Bring your friends. Help us share the gift of imagination with every child,” Boehning said. “Make it a night out. Make it meaningful. Make it unforgettable.”

All proceeds provide monthly books to children at no cost to their families through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Walker County.

Tickets are being sold online at yourimagination.info and are $60 per person, $100 per couple or $350 per table of eight. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m.

The Imagination Library of Walker County currently mails out over 1,000 books a months with over 63,400 books already in the hands of young readers.

“Parents who read with their children grow as readers too,” Boehning said. “This strengthens families and our community. All funds go directly to children’s books.”

Boehning added that all administrative costs are donated by Tomorrow’s Promise Montessori Schools. Boehning is a celebrated leader, visionary entrepreneur, and community advocate whose dedication to education, philanthropy, and customer service has left an indelible mark on Huntsville, Texas, and beyond.
