Celebrate over 100 years of tradition with music, community, and holiday cheer at SHSU’s Tree of Light Ceremony
Tonight, November 19, Sam Houston State University will celebrate over 103 years of tradition with its annual Tree of Light Ceremony. The evening begins with a festival at 4:30 PM, followed by the official lighting ceremony at 6:00 PM. This cherished event brings together students, faculty, staff, and the local community to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season and the joy of giving.
The festival will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, setting the tone for an evening of holiday cheer. At 6 PM, the spotlight will be on the lighting of the tree, marking the start of the ceremony. The SHSU Choral and Orange Pride Dance Team will take the stage, filling the air with music and performance that embody the festive spirit.
Throughout the event, student organizations will decorate the tree with beautiful, hand-crafted ornaments, adding their unique touch to the occasion. The canned-food drive is an important part of the celebration, with donations going directly to support those in need in the local community. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served, offering a sweet treat to all who attend.
The ceremony is open to students, parents, and the entire community. It’s a perfect opportunity to gather with loved ones and enjoy a heartwarming celebration of the season. For those who can’t make it in person, the event will be streamed live. Watch the ceremony from the link below.
