Family Fun and Community Celebration Honoring Veterans and First Responders

HUNTSVILLE, TX — The H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum of Texas is set to host its 7th Annual Muster Festival on September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Museum Complex and the Texas Prison Museum Complex in Huntsville. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, honoring veterans, active duty, first responders, and corrections staff.

The festival promises a day of fun-filled activities, including a bounce house, live entertainment, emergency vehicle displays, obstacle courses, demonstrations, a raffle, a silent auction, and more. Attendees can look forward to the 5K Ruck March/Fun Run, a motorcycle ride, and various vendors.

In conjunction with the Muster Festival, the museum will also host the Motorcycle Sortie and the 5K Ruck/Fun March. The Sortie Bike Ride, a charity event, invites riders and passengers to register from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the museum. The 5K Ruck/Fun March will begin at 8 a.m. with registration and packet pick-up starting at 7 a.m.

The event aims to support the museum’s mission of honoring military personnel and providing educational resources to the community. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and vendors and volunteers are encouraged to participate to make this event a success.

“We are excited to welcome the community to this year’s Muster Festival,” said Tara Burnett, Executive Director of the H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to honor those who have served and to engage with our local community through fun and meaningful activities.”

The festival will also feature static displays of Hueys, a Vietnam Memorial Walkway project, and various other new exhibits. The event typically draws over 1,000 participants each year, reflecting its growing popularity and community support.
