H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum invites the community to a fun and festive trunk or treat!
HUNTSVILLE, Texas — The H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum is set to host its annual family-friendly candy giveaway on Saturday, October 26, providing a festive celebration for the local community. The event will feature creatively decorated vehicles, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for children of all ages to enjoy.
“This event has been a cherished tradition for six years,” said Tara Burnett, director of the H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum. “It started as a way for the Army recruiters to foster fellowship and has since grown into a community celebration that welcomes everyone.”
Families can expect a fun-filled evening with various activities, including games for children, snow cones, and, of course, plenty of candy. Burnett emphasized the importance of creating a safe space for families: “We want this to be a place where people can bring their little ones out and have a good time.”
There is no fee for businesses or individuals who wish to participate in the event. “We encourage local businesses to join us, and they can bring their vehicles to hand out treats,” Burnett said. “There’s no deadline for participation, and everything is free for the community.”
The candy giveaway is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., with setup starting at 4:30 p.m. Burnett noted that last year’s event attracted nearly 1,000 attendees. “It was really busy, but everyone had a lot of fun,” she said. “We love to see it grow each year.”
Parking will be available behind the museum and at nearby locations to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. The museum requests that guests park safely and encourages everyone to dress up in Halloween costumes, though it’s not mandatory.
The H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum stands out for its focus on honoring veterans through personal stories rather than solely military artifacts. “Our mission is to connect the community and honor those who have served,” Burnett explained. “This candy giveaway is a chance for us to bring people together in a meaningful way.”
