Hero Field flag pre-sales now open for Veterans Day Week 2026

Online flag purchases now available

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Hero Field flag pre-sales are now open for the 2026 patriotic display that will honor veterans, first responders and community heroes during Veterans Day week in Huntsville.

Flags may be purchased online at HeroField.org. Each flag is $49 and includes a personalized name card placed on the flag in the field of honor. Purchasers may dedicate a flag in honor or memory of a hero, including a service member, police officer, firefighter, EMS worker, dispatcher, family member, friend or community leader.

Hero Field is planned for Nov. 7-14, 2026, on the museum grounds near the H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum of Texas, along Interstate 45. Volunteers are scheduled to help place the flags Nov. 4-6, with a dedication ceremony planned for Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11. The ceremony time will be announced later.

Each flag tells a story

The project is designed to create a visible field of American flags along I-45, with each flag representing a personal story of service, sacrifice, courage or lasting impact.

During the online purchase process, buyers may include the name of their honoree, a category, branch or role, years of service, birth and death dates when applicable, a short message and the name of the person making the dedication.

Hero Field also includes an online “Virtual Field” option. Those purchasing a flag may choose to make their dedication visible online, where friends and family can visit the honoree’s page, view the tribute and read the story behind the hero. A photo may also be added as part of the dedication, giving families another way to personalize the tribute.

Each printed name card will include a QR code linking to the honoree’s personal virtual page after the order is complete.

Flags may be taken home

Beginning Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026, flag purchasers may pick up their flags and take them home as a lasting keepsake from the field of honor.

Flag sales are processed through Spirit Media Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates Spirit 94.3 FM in Huntsville. Proceeds benefit the H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum and Spirit 94.3, a nonprofit community radio station in Huntsville.

“Hero Field is a way for all of us in Huntsville to say thank you,” said Rob Hipp, coordinator of the project and president of Spirit Media Inc. “Every flag will represent a name and a story. It might honor a veteran, a police officer, a nurse or someone who simply made a difference in another person’s life.”

Sponsors invited to help build the field

In addition to the $49 flag dedication, businesses, organizations and individuals may support Hero Field through sponsorships that provide additional recognition throughout the event and online.

Community tribute planned for Huntsville

Hero Field organizers said the display will be more than a row of flags. The goal is to create a community-wide tribute where families, churches, schools, civic groups, veterans, first responders and local businesses can take part.

The field will honor members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Space Force, along with first responders and community heroes.

Hipp said the project was created to give Huntsville a place to remember, reflect and say thank you.

“I remember standing at a similar display in my hometown, watching those flags move in the breeze, and feeling an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude,” Hipp said. “I thought, ‘Huntsville is the kind of community that deserves something like this, a place where we can all come together to honor our heroes.’”

Flag purchases, sponsorship information and project updates are available at HeroField.org.
