Official Press Release GoBearkats.com

DALLAS – Once again a Sam Houston Bearkat has earned a Conference USA weekly honor after Jadon Cardell was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week by the league on Monday following the Bearkats’ win at UTEP.

The 2024 CUSA Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league’s media. It is the first time in Cardell’s career he has earned such an honor from league voters. In total, the Kats have now snagged six weekly honors from the league.

Cardell averaged 40.0 yards on six punts against the Miners, including a season-long boot of 53 yards; however, it was his accuracy early in the game which proved critical for the Bearkats in an eventual 41-21 win.

Despite the Kats scoring on their first possession of the game, the bulk of the first half was about field position and Cardell did his part, pinning UTEP inside the 10-yard line on each of his first three kicks.

The Kats will enjoy a bye week before returning to the field on Wednesday, October 16 when they host WKU. Kickoff vs the Hilltoppers is set for 6:00 p.m.

The game will be aired on ESPN2 and can be heard on the Bearkat Sports Network.
