During a Business After Hours event hosted by the Huntsville/Walker County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, February 28, the Boys and Girls Club of Walker County received a $100,000 donation from Bridgestone to commemorate their 20th anniversary. David Wood, Store Manager of Huntsville Firestone Complete Auto Care, presented the donation as part of the Bridgestone Driving Great Futures initiative. The Boys & Girls Club of Walker County is one of four Clubs nationwide, and the only one in Texas, to receive such a grant from Bridgestone for technology and transportation initiatives this year. The donation will enable the Club to offer critical technology resources and reliable transportation for children and teenagers attending out-of-school programming. CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Walker County, Michelle Spencer, expressed her appreciation for the donation and initiated a fundraising campaign called “$20 for 20” to mark the Club’s 20th year of service. Wood commended the Club for their outstanding work and stated that the donation will ensure that every young person has access to the tools needed to succeed.
