Experienced educator and award-winning administrator to lead Huntsville High, building on strong foundation
HUNTSVILLE, TX (May 15, 2025) – During the regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the Huntsville ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the recommendation presented by Superintendent Dr. Scott Sheppard to name Mr. Robert Gilbert as the new Principal of Huntsville High School.
Mr. Gilbert will succeed Mr. Paul Treviño, who was recently promoted to a central administration role as the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Facilities and Operations.
With more than 12 years of experience in education, Mr. Gilbert brings a diverse and accomplished background to Huntsville High School. He has served in various roles, including team lead teacher, baseball and football coach, high school assistant principal, and intermediate school principal. Since 2023, he has led Strack Intermediate School in Klein ISD as principal.
Previously, Mr. Gilbert taught in Title I schools, served as assistant principal at Texas City High School, where he was honored as the Assistant Principal of the Year in 2020, and held leadership roles at Sealy Junior High and Klein High School. While at Klein, he was recognized as both the Campus Assistant Principal of the Year and the Klein ISD Assistant Principal of the Year in 2022-2023.

He has also led campus professional development initiatives and is known for fostering a culture of trust, communication, collaboration, and innovation. He encourages risk-taking in the pursuit of excellence and is dedicated to finding solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
