Obituary For Fred Vandle Elder

Fred Vandle Elder, 76, of Huntsville, TX, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Fred was born on March 15, 1947 to Bob & Meta Elder in Houston, TX. After graduating from Milby High School in 1965, Fred wed his high school sweetheart Pamela Yount in 1966. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970. Together Pam and Fred had four children, Cheryl, Jason, Pamela Jill and Elizabeth. While both went on to remarry, Fred & Pam remained close throughout their lives. Fred wed Shirley McAdams in December of 1982 and together had one daughter, Kathryn.

Anyone who knew Fred knew that he was a loving father, husband & Pop. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob & Meta Elder, siblings Butch Elder and Barb Conti, daughter Pamela Jill Elder and granddaughter Brittany White. He is survived by his wife Shirley Elder, his former wife Pam Elder and his children Cheryl White, Jason Elder, Elizabeth Peña and Kathryn Becak. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Jaclyn Gurrola, Fayth Elder, Olivia Peña, Julia Peña, Tyler Elder, Stella Becak and Great Grandson Charles Gurrola.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, TX. Both visitation and funeral services will be held at the McAdams Chapel, located at 1251 FM 1696 Rd W Huntsville, TX 77320. Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm, followed immediately by a 12:00pm funeral/graveside service and celebration of life luncheon.
