Obituary For Genevieve Ann Riggs

Genevieve, "Geanie", Riggs passed away peacefully in Huntsville, Texas, on April 20, 2023. Geanie was born August 8, 1933, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Ademar Louis Provost and Cora Blanchard. She spent most of her adult life in Texas with the last 19 years in Huntsville. She was an avid gardener and passed on this love of gardening to both of her children. Geanie became a Walker County Master Gardener in 2005. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker, gardener and her important role as loving mother and grandmother. Geanie will be remembered for her great cooking and generous and loving heart.

Geanie was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Alan Rex Riggs, Sr., and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Ann Warren, and husband, Thad; son, Donald James Schlesinger, and wife, Valerie; and grandchildren, Kelsey Ann and Jake Edward Schlesinger.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the MRC Creekside caregivers for all their loving care for Geanie. The family is also appreciative of Oasis Hospice for their care and devotion extended to Geanie during and through her last days.

A private graveside service will be held on a later date in Hitchcock, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation consideration be made to a favorite charity. Memorial condolences may be made to the family at www.shmfh.com.
