Obituary For Hurlene Savage
Hurlene Savage was born March 4, 1936 in Burke, TX and died May 17, 2023. Hurlene is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years OS Slim Savage, parents Alton and Willie Mae Hales, sisters Maxine and Billie Ruth and brother Ira Buddy Hales. Hurlene is survived by sons Bill Savage (Debbie) and Wes Savage (Rhonda); Sisters Corky Draper and Annie Lovelace; Grandsons Brandon Savage (Heather) Cody Savage (Natasidy) Kole Savage and Chance Savage. Great-grandchildren Taylor, Braden, Haylie and Gracie; great-great granddaughter Everleigh; numerous nieces and nephews; and a bonus daughter Cindy Hardy who the family extends a special thanks for her constant companionship with our mother. Hurlene spent over 40 years at Walker County Title, working up until just the last few months as she recovered from knee replacement surgeries. Walker and surrounding counties depended on Hurlene for a correct and timely close of their properties. Knowing she could answer all their questions and process paperwork efficiently. As a graduate of Sam Houston State, Hurlene remained interested in the Alumni activities; Hurlene was a Board member and Past Officer of the Friends of the State Park, a member of The Rotary Club of Huntsville embracing the philosophy of service before self to create opportunities for a better future for the generations to follow. Hurlene loved to travel with family and friends either by air, land or sea, and she could over-pack a suitcase like no one else. Hurlene was also a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, Huntsville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00pm on Friday May 19, 2023 at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Savage Family Cemetery Midway Tx. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1801 19th St, Huntsville or a church of your choice.
