Ike Fluellen

Obituary

Glen Ike Fluellen II, 76, of Willis, TX, passed away on May 30, 2026 after a courageous battle with dementia. Ike was born on November 28, 1949, in Houston, TX.

He enjoyed baseball and hunting as a kid, and he was a proud graduate of both Reagan High School in Houston and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. Ike was a successful boxer as an amateur and a professional. He fought in the AAU National Championships in San Diego in 1969 before turning pro later that year. His professional career spanned several years during which he amassed a winning record in over 20 professional bouts. His fan-pleasing boxing style is best summed up by some of the promotional literature from the era, which said, “He’s one of those fighters who combine cleverness with a knockout wallop in either fist…You can be assured that when “Mr. Excitement” Fluellen steps into the ring, things will happen.” Ike worked in law enforcement for nearly forty years, holding notable positions such as Sergeant Investigator with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Chief of Police with the Aldine Independent School District, and Captain with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his career and life, the values of honesty, integrity, and courage were ever-present. More important than any career achievements, Ike was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a man dedicated to his family. He was a committed member of Christ the King Church in Conroe and was a board member at Covenant Christian School when his children were students there. He always took great interest in his children’s sports and activities and was definitely their biggest fan. Ike was an exemplary Christian, husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. The family will always remember Ike’s favorite treats including Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream, coconut cake for every birthday, plain Lay’s potato chips, Frosted Flakes and Snickers. Ike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Terry Fluellen; children, Jesse (Lauren) Fluellen, Kelli Fluellen Noriega, and Staci (Chase) Stepanski; grandchildren, Lilia Fluellen, Roman Noriega, Braxton Stepanski, Avelyn Fluellen, Maci Slott, Ethan Noriega, Joshua Fluellen, Weston Stepanski, and Bennett Stepanski. Ike was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Ike Fluellen and Doris Catoe Fluellen, and his brother, Robert Fluellen. There are many other family and friends, too many to name, who were greatly loved by and impactful to Ike. “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” -2 Corinthians 4:16-18
