Sam Houston State University introduces SamPoly, offering industry-driven online programs for career readiness.
HUNTSVILLE, TX – Sam Houston State University has announced the launch of SamPoly, a new Polytechnic College aimed at equipping students with industry-focused skills and workforce-ready training. Applications will open this summer for the fully online programs.
As SHSU’s ninth college, SamPoly will initially offer four specialized programs:
- Computer Information Systems & Security
- Computer Support Specialist
- Paralegal Studies
- Practical AI & Intelligent Automation
Chad Hargrave, SHSU’s vice president for research and strategic partnerships, will lead the college, which was developed in collaboration with industry partners to ensure students gain the credentials and hands-on experience employers seek.
“Our goal is to strengthen the gap between education and industry,” Hargrave said. “SamPoly was developed to provide graduates with the skills and credentials employers demand.”
SamPoly’s programs are designed to align with the growing need for technology-driven expertise. Some course credits earned through certificates and associate degrees will also be applicable toward four-year bachelor’s degrees.
“This initiative supports economic growth and workforce development in Texas and beyond,” Hargrave added. “We plan to expand SamPoly’s certification offerings and continue working with business leaders to identify future program needs.”
