Spirit 94.3 to celebrate ribbon cutting May 28

The Walker County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting will mark another milestone for the local Christian radio station, which launched Jan. 1.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Spirit 94.3 will celebrate its official ribbon cutting Thursday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at Studio 1229 J, the home of the Spirit Radio studios located inside First Baptist Church Huntsville.

The Walker County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting will be held at the studio, located at 1229 Ave. J in Huntsville. A light lunch will be provided after the ribbon cutting at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Huntsville, located across the street from the studio.

The event is open to the community, but guests are asked to RSVP at https://spiritradio.fm/rsvp so organizers can prepare an accurate headcount for lunch.

Spirit 94.3 launched Jan. 1 as a local Christian radio station serving Huntsville and the surrounding area. The station is operated by Spirit Media Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry founded by Rob Hipp.

Since its launch, Spirit 94.3 has grown its local programming and digital reach through radio broadcasts, live video, social media and community partnerships. The station is also reaching listeners outside the Huntsville area, with people around the world listening through the Spirit 94.3 app and on the station’s website.

The station’s current shows include “Good Morning Huntsville,” which airs weekdays at 7:30 a.m.; “Lunch Break,” a local midday show featuring news, sports, conversation and encouragement; “Empowered Youth,” hosted by SHSU student Joshua Mahshi and First Baptist Church Huntsville Youth Minister Chad Laurain on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.; and “Can I Get a Witness?,” a gospel program hosted by Chaplain Billy Holmes on Fridays at 5 p.m.

“This ribbon cutting is a chance to thank God and thank the people who have helped make Spirit 94.3 possible,” said Rob Hipp, founder and president of Spirit Media Inc. “We launched on Jan. 1 with a simple goal: use local radio to encourage people, point them to Jesus and serve this community well.”

Studio 1229 J serves as the broadcast home for Spirit 94.3 and is also used for interviews, local programming, ministry conversations and community-focused content.

Hipp said the station’s reach has continued to grow through its FM signal, app, website and social media presence.

“We have already seen the Lord open doors through the station,” Hipp said. “People are listening here in Huntsville and around the world through the Spirit 94.3 app and website. That is what we hoped this ministry would become.”

The name Studio 1229 J reflects the station’s location inside First Baptist Church Huntsville. Above the studio door is the phrase, “From Here to the World,” a reminder of the station’s mission to share encouragement and the gospel from Huntsville.

Community members, chamber members, local leaders, ministry partners and supporters are invited to attend the ribbon cutting and stay for lunch following the ceremony.
