New Season of Fellowship, Learning, and Community Engagement Begins March 6th
HUNTSVILLE, Texas — First Baptist Church in Huntsville is reigniting its Wednesday Night Life (WNL) program starting March 6th, providing a rich tapestry of activities and spiritual learning opportunities for community members of all ages. From engaging children and youth programs to insightful adult Bible studies, the church opens its doors from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM to foster connections, growth, and fellowship among attendees.
Children’s Director Debra Wion, at the helm of the children’s activities, has meticulously planned a program that promises not only to educate but also to entertain. “We have a lot of fun planned,” Wion says, detailing the children’s program that ranges from glow-in-the-dark activities emphasizing Christ’s light to a throwback unit on the miracles of Jesus. “So it’s really shining Christ’s light and how we can all be a part of shining that light,” she adds, capturing the essence of the program designed to light up young minds with the wonders of faith.
The evening for children kicks off with time to unwind and socialize. “We start with some games and fun in the gym so that [the children] can just kind of run around,” Wion explains. Following the physical activities, the children partake in a communal meal at 5:20 PM, blessing the food together before diving into the thematic Bible study sessions.
For teens in grades 6 through 12, the Family Life Center (FLC) becomes their hub for fellowship and learning. Unlike the younger kids, the youth have their dedicated space where they can delve into age-appropriate discussions and activities designed to resonate with their unique experiences and challenges. “The teenagers have an awesome room upstairs at the FLC for their activities which include worship, bible study, games, and fellowship,” Wion notes, highlighting the tailored approach to nurturing their spiritual journey.
Adults are equally catered to with a selection of new Bible study classes including “Me, Myself, & Lies” and “Kingdom Man,” alongside sessions focused on marriage, grief support, and foundational faith principles. “This is the first time in a very long time that we’ve had something for everybody,” Wion states, underscoring the inclusive nature of the program. Adults can partake in the meal before heading to their classes, fostering an environment of communal warmth and spiritual nourishment.
Wion emphasizes the church’s open arms to the wider community, stating, “This is a safe place for young people…no charge so they can come to eat and then participate in all these events.” She assures that the program is designed to be accessible to all, regardless of church membership. “You don’t have to be a member of First Baptist Church. We encourage the community and, parents to bring their children,” she stated.
