MRC Creekside Celebrates Mother’s Day with Exquisite Tea Party, Reflects on Rich Legacy of Service to Seniors

In a delightful fusion of community spirit and affection for the elderly, MRC Creekside, a prominent senior living community in Huntsville, Texas, hosted an enchanting Mother’s Day Tea Party on May 8th, 2023. The lively gathering allowed the broader community to engage with the residents, providing a firsthand experience of the vibrant and warm atmosphere that is a hallmark of MRC Creekside.

The unique concept of the event was the brainchild of Jennifer Nickell, the Director of Marketing at MRC Creekside. She not only envisioned the event but also arranged all the decorations, adding a touch of charm and elegance to the celebration.

The event was inaugurated by Marty Ballesteros, the chaplain at MRC Creekside, who opened with a heartfelt prayer. He shared his personal motivations for serving the elderly population, encapsulating the deep emotional connections that bind this community together.

The celebration was a resounding success, with over 60 people in attendance. Residents reveled in the festivities, donning their favorite dresses, hats, and gloves, and even playfully adopting English accents. An exciting game of bingo was a highlight of the event, enjoyed by all present. The joyous memories of the event continue to resonate within the community, with the residents expressing their gratitude repeatedly and still reminiscing about the memorable day.

Established in 1962, MRC Creekside is owned and operated by the non-profit Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC), which serves over 2,500 elders each year in 13 senior living communities across Texas. MRC Creekside, initially The Ella Smither Geriatric Center in TownCreek, was renamed in 2013 and continues to honor the ICARE principles of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.

All revenues are reinvested back into the community, fostering continuous improvements and keeping rate increases to a minimum.
