Sam H. Masiel Jr. has been appointed as the new Assistant City Manager of Huntsville, which the city administration is pleased to announce. Originally hailing from Fairfield, Texas, Sam graduated from Fairfield High School and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Sam Houston State University, which he earned in 2002. He later went on to obtain a Master of Public Administration from the same university in 2019.
Sam is married to Megan, who is also a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Together they have two daughters, Peyton and Dylin, and currently reside in Conroe.
Having begun his career in municipal government with the City of Conroe in 2007 as the Utility Billing Manager, Sam rose to the position of Assistant Director of Internal Services in 2016. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing the operations of Purchasing/Warehouse, Fleet Services, and Information Technology/GIS. Sam also actively participated in various community and civic organizations during his tenure at Conroe, such as Leadership Montgomery County, Education for Tomorrow Alliance, and the Conroe Independent School District.
Sam is a member of several professional associations, including the Texas City Management Association, Urban Management Professionals of Southeast Texas, Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, National Institute of Government Purchasing, and the Texas Association of Government Information Technology Managers.
