Margaret Ann Mature

Obituary

Margaret Ann Mature, 85, of New Waverly, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her life. Born on March 4, 1941, in Conroe, Texas, Margaret Ann Noviski was the cherished daughter of Pete and Sophie Noviski. Margaret graduated from New Waverly High School in 1958, where she was deeply involved in school activities and athletics. She participated in volleyball and softball, was a majorette, and was active in FFA. She was honored by her classmates as both the 1958 Class Favorite and Class Sweetheart. On July 7, 1960, Margaret married the love of her life, James Frank Mature, in New Waverly, Texas. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and service to others. Margaret devoted herself to raising their three sons: James Caesar, Robert Frank, and Anthony Thomas. The family found deep solace and community in St. Charles Borromeo Church, where the boys attended primary school. Their faith provided unwavering strength during the immeasurable loss of their eldest son, James, in 1977, a tragedy caused by a drunk driver. Margaret was known for her warm hospitality and extraordinary talent in the kitchen. She was a wonderful cook and an effortless baker who could make anything taste delicious. Family members often joked that her secret ingredient was a dash of sugar added to just about everything. No one ever left her table hungry! Following James’ retirement from Maxwell House, the couple returned to New Waverly, where they continued their lifelong commitment to their church and community. Together, they served for five years as co-chairs at St. Joseph Church, reflecting their steadfast faith and dedication to helping others. Margaret also served as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in New Waverly until her retirement in 2012. Throughout the community, she became affectionately known as “The Lady in the White Jeep,” faithfully delivering mail with a smile and a kind word for everyone along her route. Margaret’s devotion to her family and ranch was immeasurable. She made certain that everyone—family, friends, and animals alike—was well fed, cared for, and loved each day. She also possessed a remarkable green thumb and could grow just about anything, filling her home and land with beauty and life. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Mature; her son, James C. Mature; her parents, Pete and Sophie Noviski; her mother-in-law, Lilian Mature, and brother Bernis (Sonny) Noviski.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Mature and his wife, Rosie, and Anthony Mature and his wife, Lynda Lee-Mature; granddaughter Carolyn Mature; grandsons Kenneth Mature and his wife, Heather, Quinn Lee, and River Lee; great-grandchildren Daniel Mature and wife Kelsey, Macie Mature, Case Ellis, and Maverick Mature, and great-great-grandchildren Tazley Mature and McCoy Mature. Extended family and dear friends will forever treasure her love, generosity, faith, and unwavering strength. Margaret’s life was a beautiful example of devotion—to God, to family, and to community. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love will continue to live on in all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
